In today’s fast paced world, education and skill development are essential tools for empowerment. For underprivileged women, these tools are even more critical, as they not only open the doors to financial independence but also help break the cycle of poverty, gender inequality, and social marginalization. Skill upgradation trainings are pivotal for these women, enabling them to contribute actively to their family’s decisions & improve their living standards.
With this aim in mind, SETU organized a 15-day long skill development workshop in the urban slums of Shahdara Distt in Delhi, with one of our artisan groups making embroidered products. The motive was to involve women in this craft and to enable them to earn dignified livelihood. The workshop covered the detailed processes & intricacies of Pasting & Finishing processes of Christmas ornaments, brooches, pins, earrings etc. A master trainer was appointed to teach them the necessary skills along with vigorous practice to help them master the craft. All training raw materials were also provided to them free of cost.
