Self-reliance and financial independence are key requisites for achieving women empowerment. Thus, vocational skill trainings, leading towards livelihood generation opportunities are of utmost importance for underprivileged women.
With this aim, SETU organized a Professional skill development workshop for Baking, for a period of 6 days. It was organized in association with COWE & DISHA Foundation, Jaipur. The purpose of this extensive training was to help the women learn & enhance their skills, enabling them to either start their own bakery business or work in other bakeries as semi-trained employees.
The training was held in the professional bakery unit of Disha foundation, from 27th May to 1st June 2024. Both theoretical & practical aspects were covered in detail. Printed details were also provided to all the participants on types and uses of baking equipment, recipes, tips etc.
During the workshop, renowned Chef Mr. Sarfaraz and faculty Shabana Sheikh conducted the training. They gave introduction about various ingredients, professional baking equipment and procedures. Thereafter, they shared the recipes of Muffins, Cakes, Brownie, Cookies, Sandwich Bread and Nankhatai, along with complete practical sessions.
Renowned Chef & owner of Quyu’s Taproom Ms. Shradda Poddar conducted a session for the women on how to become an entrepreneur and shared her own success story. Separate sessions on Social media marketing & Govt. schemes for women were also organized.
At the end of the workshop, training certificates were distributed to the participants. The entire workshop was conducted free of cost for the participants.
A total of 20 women participated in the workshop.
