Sponsoring Welding Machine for artisans making iron handicrafts…
A capacity building initiative…

Place: Bagru
Date : Feb 2025

SETU is committed to empowering small artisan groups by providing them with the necessary tools and resources to enhance their craftsmanship and productivity. As part of this initiative, we sponsored a MIG welding machine to one of our local artisan groups, specializing in iron handicrafts.

Such welding machines are highly beneficial for small artisan groups for the following reasons:

  1. Enhanced Productivity: MIG welding provides faster and more consistent welds, allowing artisans to complete tasks efficiently.
  2. Improved Quality: The precision of MIG welding ensures strong, clean joints that enhance the durability of finished products.
  3. Reduced material costs: MIG welding significantly reduces the need for expensive carbide rods and minimizes LPG gas consumption, lowering overall production costs.
  4. Versatility: Suitable for various metal thicknesses and joint types, enabling artisans to work on diverse projects.
  5. Reduced Manual Labor: Automating parts of the welding process reduces physical strain and speeds up production.
  6. Skill Development: Learning to operate advanced equipment broadens artisans’ technical skills and enhances their professional capabilities.

Since the use of welding machine, the artisan group has reported a marked improvement in productivity and cost savings. Reduced reliance on carbide rods and LPG gas has made the production process more economical, allowing the artisans to undertake larger and more complex projects. They have also saved a lot of time, money and energy that was earlier consumed in outsourcing these tasks.

Providing modern machinery like welding machines to small artisans significantly contributes to their growth and sustainability. We remain dedicated to supporting such initiatives, fostering self-reliance and economic empowerment within artisan communities.
