Menstrual Hygiene Awareness & Sanitary Napkin Distribution campaign

Location: Moti Nagar, Jaipur
Date: 21-28th May 2025

To mark the Menstrual Hygiene Day, SETU organized a week-long menstrual hygiene awareness campaign in the urban slum of Moti Nagar, Jaipur. The initiative aimed to promote safe, hygienic, and dignified menstruation practices among underprivileged women, with a special focus on education, access, and empowerment.

The main objectives were:

  • To raise awareness about menstrual hygiene practices.
  • To break myths and taboos surrounding menstruation.
  • To distribute free sanitary napkins to underprivileged women.
  • To empower women with knowledge and resources to manage their menstrual health safely and confidently.

SETU’s team conducted door-to-door outreach and group meetings to build trust and encourage participation. Interactive workshops and one-on-one counselling sessions were held to educate women about menstrual hygiene, proper usage of sanitary products, and safe disposal practices.

A total of 3,400 sanitary napkin packets were distributed free of cost among 567 women, with each beneficiary receiving 6 packets to meet her monthly needs.

This campaign not only addressed a critical health need but also sparked vital conversations around menstrual dignity. Many participants expressed gratitude for both the awareness sessions and access to free sanitary products; resources they often cannot afford.

By creating a safe space for dialogue and education, the campaign played a role in reducing stigma and misinformation, fostering a supportive community for women and girls.

SETU remains committed to menstrual health and hygiene as a pillar of women’s health and dignity. We believe menstrual health is a fundamental right, not a privilege.

Together, we are breaking taboos, spreading awareness, and ensuring no woman is left behind.
